Glendale Public Library Report-September 2013

Over the summer we were very busy hiring 7 additional pages and 4 security guards.  We were especially excited to have the pages back to help with the backlash of checking in and shelving all of those summer reading materials.   With the help of funding from the Glendale Arts Commission, the Main Library will be remodeling an computer lab into a creative makespace.  Artists will be selected to teach a class twice a month then library users will be able to come during open lab times to create, connect and collaborate with others in the space working with the supplies.  This will be a 6 months pilot program targeting high school age and college age users in bridging the gap to the adult side of the library.  Staff is also working on a Community Development Block grant to renovate the Velma Teague Library.  Staff has also started the STEM programming at all 3 libraries for children through adults.
