The minutes of September 20, 2012 and the Treasurer’s Report were approved.
The MCLC web site has moved to mclcdirectors.wordpress.com, and can still be viewed at https://mclcaz.org/. Any of the directors can access WordPress to add content, and this is how reports should be submitted in the future.

The content of continuing education was discussed and it was decided not to pursue Library Journal’s “Lead the Change.” A working group comprising Carol Damaso (Chair), Cindy Kolaczynski, Heather Wolf, Holly Henley, and Brenda Brown will meet to consider potential events pertaining to staff development related to outreach and development of personal skills. Melanie Edens, Chair of the Continuing Education Committee, will be invited to attend.

Joan Clark and Holly Henley gave reports from the State Library. Joan reported about Safeguarding Arizona’s Fading Electronic Records (SAFER), an electronic records repository. Holly reported that OneBookAZ will be on hiatus for 2013, and the state library will be providing support for the Big Read. LSTA grant applications are due March 1. She also spoke about Connect2Compete, a program for low cost computers and broadband.

Jacqueline Higgins and Karrie Romero reported on their experiences attending conferences on the MCLC scholarships. The presentations were very professional and informative.

Cindy Kolaczynski provided handouts showing usage of Rocket Languages and Freegal.

Ann Boles resigned as Recording Secretary; a new secretary needs to be chosen at the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 11:00 am. The next meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on January 17 at the Arizona Historical Society Library/Archives.

Respectfully submitted,
Ann Boles
